What Does sowing to The Spirit look like?

“Sowing to the Spirit” is a New Testament phrase that refers to accepting God’s truth, which is The Spirit and cultivating the fruit of The Spirit within oneself.  It is abiding with The Spirit in your life on a moment by moment basis:

  • Accepting Father God’s Spirit of truth: This involves accepting God’s truth, The Spirit into your heart, your soul.
  • Cultivating the fruit of the Spirit: This involves nurturing the fruit of the Spirit, the nine spiritual senses, which are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. You cultivate the nine spiritual senses, the characteristics of Christ by being led by The Spirit into Christlikeness.
  • Developing a deeper relationship with God The Holy Spirit: This involves having a consistent personal and meaningful connection with God The Holy Spirit by abiding and fellowshipping with Him all day, everyday.
  • Spiritual growth: This involves spiritual practices like prayer, fasting, and studying the Bible under the guidance and revelation of The Spirit.
  • Reaping the eternal, abundant life: This is the promise of sowing to the Spirit, as stated in Galatians 6:8.

Some ways to sow to the Spirit include:

  • Regularly attending church services for corporate worship
  • Attending Bible studies
  • Reading the Scriptures daily, memorizing, meditating on them and receiving supernatural revelations that leads to lifestyle transformation by The Spirit
  • Spending time in prayer, which is talking with The Spirit about your needs, your hopes and your desires
  • Seeking to live according to the guidance of The Holy Ghost and His nine fruit in all of your daily activities
  • Courageously trusting God when called to do something that feels beyond your abilities in any situation
